Equinox is the balance point of equal day and equal night. So it is that Equinox Gallery is the meeting place for metals and jewelry to create a dialogue that inspires and excites those who partake. It is where all can interact with the process of metalsmithing. All can experience the alchemical process of the inner work that is metalsmithing and the space invites its makers and collectors. As makers our work is done in mind where we bridge the heart to experience the expansive sacredness of the divine. We as makers hope that the end result will be an object of elegance and it will demonstrate the intensive process and experience. Our work is to remember and retain the innocence of our sacredness and not to allow life and its challenges to jade our knowledge. Our ideas and work are important. The new economy is creativity! We will only prosper and thrive when we remain true to ourselves. The only way is self expression. Create or die.
The new economy will take a community for the art of metalsmithing to thrive. It starts with the academic institutions nurturing the students. It is through the cycle of life and living that our work has a place in the greater world. It is important that we create an environment that nurtures and prepares the student for a life in this field of alchemy and gallerists are open to new forms and ways that support the greater good. The artist is seen not as a commodity but as a relationship. We are all challenged to uphold and have healthy relationships where we build trust and a dialogue that is conducive to both parties. As artists our sensibility and vulnerabilities can hold only strength when there is an environment of trust and confidence. Let us not forget the collector and supporters who have contributed to support us and out work. The cycle does not end here but furthers as the objects and jewelry are shared and passed down through time. To all our supporters and collectors we thank you for at the end the greatest compliment is to purchase our work. We continue in this process because we are called to create. We are moved by this process to create and will continue.
