Wow! March blew by and April is nearly finished! Equinox is so pleased to have been awarded “Best Of” Contemporary Art Month San Antonio! Happy New Year from Equinox!

We are happy to start the year off with new work from the artists of the gallery.

We currently represent 23 jewelry artists in addition to owner Alejandro Sifuentes. Among the work we show you will find, steel, silver, 3D printed nylon, acrylic, tin, foamed neoprene, found objects, enamel, mica, paper, aluminum, and bronze! All of which speak to the evolution of adornment in the 21^st century.

Thanks to everyone who came for Atsuko Taniguchi’s opening “Enchanted”. She put together a beautiful collection of work we are glad we can share it with you.

Coming up! Marlene True will be here later this month to open her show, “The Narrative of Material, Place & Time”.

The Opening Reception will be November 23rd, this is the day AFTER Thanksgiving. This also happens to be the day the city lights up the River Walk! No doubt a terrific time to visit downtown San Antonio and celebrate!

Equinox Gallery will be celebrating Dia de los Muertos!

The historic village of La Villita will host guest artists, musicians, food and activities throughout the day Friday, November 2nd and Saturday November 3rd.

Equinox Gallery will be participating in the festivities! Philip Arevalo and other local poets will perform Calaveras in Juarez Plaza located just behind the gallery on Friday evening.

November 2nd is also the opening of our very own, Atsuko Taniguchi’s “Enchanted”. Atsuko has put together a special collection of work, we hope you will join us in celebrating! “Enchanted” opens Friday, November 2nd and will be up for view through November 22nd!

Equinox Gallery will be hosting the work of Sarah Roberts for the month of October. Roberts’ body of work “Memories and Remembering” is a stunning visual experience. Do not miss out on the chance to view her work and meet Sarah at the opening reception from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.

The Southwest School of Art recently asked Alejandro Sifuentes to participate in this short film showcasing success stories as a result of working with the school.

Alejandro took his first  jewelry class at the Southwest School of Art and has continued to take special workshops offered by the school. He has participated in many exhibitions with the School and will also be a participating artist in the upcoming annual Gala.

Mark and Angela Walley are a film making duo based in San Antonio, Texas. They have worked in collaboration with many artists to showcase the thought process and details of  the artists making process. September is here! We had so many wonderful events take place in August that it just blew right by! Here is the run down on what is happening here at Equinox…

Kat Cole’s exhibition Of Maps and Memories was a breath of fresh air and we are happy to have it through the end of this month! If you have not had the chance to come view the work, it is worth the special trip. Kat sent us a stunning collection of her work complete with lots of variety and color!

We will be opening a new exhibition in October by local San Antonio metal artist, Sarah Roberts. She will be exhibiting both sculptural and wearable works. If you have not joined our mailing list, please contact us so we can keep you up to date on Sarah’s show and the many more to come.

Additionally, this month we also received new work for the gallery by The Opulent Project (TOP) of Portland, Oregon and Caitie Sellers of Asheville, North Carolina. TOP offers a fresh, clever, and evocative take on contemporary jewelry and Caitie sent us a beautiful collection of work ranging from wall sculpture to delicate jewelry pieces each one packed with hand fabricated imagery she takes from her own drawings. We are thrilled to have this work in the gallery and we want to share it with you!

This Friday we will be hosting music by Eddie and the Kevin’s on the porch in conjunction with La Villita First Friday. Alejandro is making room on the floor for many of his new designs, in honor of fall and the end to a lovely summer he will be offering a 15% discount on all of the Rock Candy rings!
